Wizard World buys Pittsburgh Comicon
Pittsburgh Comicon is announcing that they have been bought by Wizard World.
From their e-mail:
The internet has been a buzz with rumors over the last several days. Wizard World’s official statement should be coming tomorrow. But I would like to take this opportunity to address all our friends and fans….
Wizard World will be taking over our show dates as of this coming September.
According to the press release, all prepaid exhibitor contracts for the 2015 show will be honored by Wizard World.
This follows last weeks news that ReedPOP acquired Seattle’s Emerald City Comicon — including a deal that brings not only the show but the show’s staff itself to the Reed Exhibitions organization.
For a behind-the-scenes look at the ReedPOP/ECCC merger, check out the Jan. 14, 2015, episode of Surviving Creativity, a podcast I co-host with Scott Kurtz and Cory Casoni. We talk with ECCC founder Jim Demonakos about the story-behind-the-story… and then Cory manages to snag ReedPOP Global VP, Lance Fensterman, to ask some tough questions about the changes in store for this fan-favorite show.
