To Alias or to Anti-Alias… that is the question.
So, in a follow-up to yesterday’s post on creating professional-quality word balloons using Photoshop Actions, a Webcomics.com member asked the following:
Do you use “anti-Aliasing” on while using the fill tool? Back when I was coloring for Image, we were told that this would also cause a subtle “fuzziness” to the lineart and always turned this option off before making selections or fills. Also, before doing anything, we made sure we started from a Bitmap BW file to make sure that the lineart wasn’t anti-aliased as well.
And he’s right. But the concept of “aliasing” is confusing to a lot of Photoshop users, so this might be a good place for a deeper discussion.
