According to NBC:

eBay has asked its customers to change their passwords after hackers targeted a database, according to a statement released on Wednesday. The database contained encrypted passwords and was compromised in late February and into March. The database contained customers’ phone numbers, birth dates and email addresses, but it did not include financial information, the company said.
