How many times has this happened to you? You’ve just finished a really nice illustration and then you realize that you’ve done the “inking” on the same layer as your “sketch” layer?
I can tell you that, since switching to doing a 100% digital workflow, this has happened to me more than a few times. And it’s frustrating as all get-out.
Here’s a system I’ve worked out that protects me from this all-too-easy error.

Creative Commons is a licensing classification that allows creators to share some of their rights with others. Created by the Creative Commons nonprofit organization, it’s billed as “a simple, standardized way to grant copyright permissions to …creative work. The Creative Commons licenses enable people to easily change their copyright terms from the default of “all rights reserved” to “some rights reserved.”

This morning Patreon creator Jack Conte announced $2 million in new funding indicating that it would be driven towards developing a new mobile app for the crowdfunding site and hiring more people. It also unveiled a new look for the main Patreon page — and some useful functionality. But more importantly, we now have a clear indication of what it’s going to take to increase visibility on the site.

Today’s Archive Dive is actually a “two-fer.” This archive post links to a second archive post — and post are really important tools in writing humor.
Although your eyes glazed over when your English teacher started discussing pronouns and antecedents, he or she was actually giving a humor lecture.
An antecedent is a pronoun that takes the place of a noun introduced earlier in the sentence. However, when two or more nouns are introduced, it can be confusing which noun the antecedent is standing in for.
Usually, readers assume that the antecedent matches with the closest noun — the last noun mentioned.
And that means we can write perfectly ambiguous sentences and exploit them to our heart’s content because the misdirection is embedded directly into the sentence!
