In talking about a proposed micropayment system, a member made the following remark:
If I’ve got nothing to lose and a few bucks to gain, why not?
It’s an excellent question. In fact, it’s representative a thought-process that leads many of us to make a significant number of decisions about our online businesses. Let’s face it: Most of our daily decisions are “Nothing To Lose” decisions.
It deserves a thoughtful reply. So I’m pulling the conversation out front with a Site Post because I think there’s a side-issue here that could stand some deeper exploration.

There’s something going on in comic conventions that I want you to be aware of.
When I exhibited at Philadelphia Comic Con, I found myself exhibiting directly across from an exhibitor that was identified as “Zombie Fun RUn / Hyundai.”
It looked as if there were three properties being promoted: The Zombie Mud Run, Hyundai automobiles and Shoctoberfest.

Have you ever thought about building a clipbook of source material — sketches, photos, other people’s art — that you would go back and study when it was time to develop a new character? It would be great to have one for characters — and also one for nuances such as different ways to draw eyes and noses and body types and animals.
But, of course, you never did, did you? Me neither.

A while back, I posted about a pet peeve of mine — drawing a character with a raised index finger when delivering the punchline (or an important plot point). For me, it represents a lazy approach to illustrating because there are so many other more creative gestures that could be used to make that panel work more effectively.
