As you may know, I’ve started teaching Arts Entrepreneurship at the Hussian School of Art, in Philadelphia’s historic Bourse building. Well, I’ve enjoyed it so much — and it’s worked as a way for me to further the kinds of things I do at this site and in my books — that I’ve approached them about letting me teach a sequential art class. They’re as excited about the idea as I am. As we hammer out the details on that, there are a few things that I’d like to know from the members of this site.
If you are (or know) a high-school or university undergraduate in the Philadelphia area, I will be teaching a two-day Comics workshop this summer through Hussian. It will take place July 14-15 at the Bourse (5th and Market). Contact the Admissions Department for more information.
Furthering that idea, the administration has pitched the idea of my presenting a three-day continuing education seminar aimed at adults. This would likely be held over the summer in the evenings. If you’re in the Philly area — and if you’d be interested in attending such a workshop — drop me a line through this site so I can put you on the list to get more information as this gains momentum.
And for the rest of you who aren’t in the Philadelphia region, I’d like to know this: What would you like to get out of a class such as this? Would you prefer to focus on the craft of cartooning? Or would you appreciate a primer on Web-publishing software and other Web-site-related issues? Or would you want to talk about another topic altogether — like social media or business models? It’s only a three-day workshop, so I’d have to focus on only one topic in order to give it the full attention it would deserve.
What are your thoughts?
Here’s a little technology that most of us take for granted.
We click on a link (or enter a URL into a browser window) and suddenly a page appears. Well, it ain’t that easy. And we’ve all seen the results of what happens when that system breaks down. Understanding what’s going on in the background could help you solve those little breakdowns more quickly — or at least communicate more clearly when you’re seeking help. Alternately, understanding the inner workings of your site’s pages might help you to make better decisions that enable that page more quickly (and more closely to your vision for those pages).
So this is going to be the start of a series of Web Publishing 101 posts — collaborative effort between Philip M. “Frumph” Hofer and myself — to help demystify the process.

Many of you are already familiar with Project Wonderful, but it isn’t the only way to get paid for ads running on your site. There are a number of companies that serve ads to participating Web sites. These companies generally pay on a CPM or CPC basis – meaning you get paid on a per-impression or per-click basis (respectively). Here’s a quick overview of some (and by no means all) of your options.
If you’re like me, you’re looking at your ad revenue for this month and scratching your head.
Although you can chalk up the April ad slump to companies finalizing their budgets in the second quarter, it’s no help for the lost revenue.

The latest WordPress update kicked off an error for me that I’ve had to get to the bottom of. If this has happened to you (or if a future update causes it), I wanted to list the fix here for your reference.
Here’s the error: When you try to access your dashboard, you see a WordPress message that says, ”
There’s only one option: Continue. But when you click that, you get returned to your Web site. It’s impossible to access your dashboard.
Now what?
