In October, I alerted you to this:
Diamond Comics Distributors isn’t shipping any new books the week of Dec 30th — which means that comic shops will have no new offerings that week. A grass-roots group has seized this as an opportunity for independent comics artists to fill that space on comic shelves with independent offerings. To that end they’ve created the Indy Comic Book Week Web site. On the site, they’re listing creator resources as well as participating retail shops. So far, eight retailers are participating (roughly 20 shops) including virtually all the big shops in Dallas, along with others in North Carolina and Michigan. And the list keeps growing. On the blog they’re allowing any independent creator putting a book on comic shelves that day to promote their book by putting up previews and information on which shops they will distribute their comics to.
If you are a participant, feel free to break the traditional no-plug rule and post below what you contributed and where we might find it.
Over in the Forum, Matt launched a helpful thread called Webcomics New Years Resolutions. In this thread, people started listing their webcomics-related resolutions for the coming year.

I’m currently redesigning my site to fit more of the important stuff ‘above the fold’ and in so doing I’ve been researching a few things to check on that.
Google has a tool that is fairly interesting for that. This feature google set up seems to be pretty handy for seeing how folks with varying resolutions will see your site. From Google’s Browser Size team:

Webcomics.com will not update today or tomorrow as I spend a little quality time with my family. Have a wonderful holiday. We’ll resume next week.
One of the benefits of having a large archive is that you exponentially increase your potential pageviews as new readers catch up on previous comics.
But beyond that, how can you get more out of that stockpile of comics?

Q: I see that some people include a transcript of their comic in the blog. Is this because the spiders that search engines use to classify the webpage can’t read the graphical text in the comic itself? Not everyone does it, though, so I was wondering if that was the reason.

Often in comics, punctuation marks are doubled or mixed to convey complex emotions. And that often leads to some pretty confusing situations for a cartoonist.

I’m about to enter year 2 of my comic, and I’ve had a few requests for prints. So I’m planning on putting up a buy-this-print button and making it official.

In a follow-up to an earlier discussion of the proper use / spelling of Yeah, Yay, Yea and Ya, here are some other words and phrases that commonly get misused in comics. Most of these hinge on the proper use of hyphens or apostrophes.
